Our History
St John's United Church is the result of the union in 1997 of two churches, the Pietermaritzburg Congregational Church and the Pietermaritzburg Presbyterian Church.
The Church and Refectory are original buildings which date back to the late 1890's. They were built for the Anglican Order of St John the Divine, who also ran the St Cross's Children's Home on the same site.
We worship, learn and fellowship together as one body under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
In keeping with the teaching of St John who proclaims 'God is Love', we endeavor to be a Church who loves in word and deed.
